As winter gets closer and the weather in the cascades gets a little less reliable, it's good to explore some of the fine places east of town. Today we visited two of them, Dry Canyon and Crooked River Canyon. Dry Canyon is an easy, flat hike. It's very quiet and sunny while the sun is high. I hear there are goats up on the canyon walls but they weren't out today. Crooked River Canyon is a nice drive that has some interesting basalt formations, and a very pretty river. It's also a great road ride as an out-and-back, or as part of a big loop. Looks like good fishing out there, too.

Trail work
We spent part of the day at the COTA work party. Looks like there will be at least one sweet new trail to ride by late next season!

Fall in the mountains
Really starting to feel like fall in the mountains! It was cool morning and a dusting of snow made for a beautiful ride. It's nice to leave the dust behind- the trails are great! Fingers crossed that this window lasts a few weeks.
